2025 Wheelchair Shipment - Fully Distributed

By Erin Hegarty | CEO

We have some important news to share about our Wheelchairs Project.
All the wheelchairs from our 2025 shipment have now reached their new owners. This is a big moment for our team and the families we support. Each wheelchair means more than just mobility. It brings dignity, opens doors to education, eases the load on caregivers, and helps children and adults with disabilities join in community life. One mother told us, "For the first time, my son can go to school on his own and play outside with friends. Our daily life has changed, and he is so much happier." Stories like hers show just how much your support matters to individuals and their families. During distribution, we made sure each person got the right wheelchair type and size. We also helped families learn how to use and care for the wheelchairs so they last longer. For many, this has meant going to school for the first time, leaving the house on their own, or moving around without needing to be carried. The distribution finished, we’re now starting the next important phase: follow-up and monitoring. Our support doesn’t stop once a wheelchair is delivered. Our team is visiting families to check that wheelchairs fit well, are safe and comfortable, and are adjusted if needed. We’re also fixing small issues early and helping families learn about long-term care and maintenance.
The first feedback from our visits has been very positive. Many people have told us their new wheelchairs help them go to school, join local events, and handle daily tasks more easily. Families say children are adjusting quickly, and caregivers feel less physical strain. These early results show the lasting, life-changing difference your support makes. This phase helps ensure each wheelchair is a long-term help, not just a quick fix.
We are also preparing for our next shipment. In April 2026, 166 more wheelchairs will leave Australia to help even more people. We are very close to our fundraising goal for this shipment, with about $3,000 left to raise. This money will cover shipping, customs, local transport, distribution, and making sure each wheelchair is fitted and supported after arrival.
If you would like to help close the funding gap, you can donate on our website or share our campaign with friends and family who might want to support this work. Every donation and every shared message helps us reach more people in need.
We are deeply grateful to every donor who has made this work possible. Thanks to your collective support, we have reached a major milestone: every wheelchair in the 2025 shipment has been delivered to someone in need, transforming lives and communities across the region. Your generosity leads to movement, independence, inclusion, and hope. Every gift has helped children and adults experience greater dignity and freedom. As we move from distribution into monitoring and prepare the next shipment, we remain committed to not only delivering wheelchairs but also making sure they are used safely, appropriately, and sustainably.
We will keep you updated as the April shipment leaves and arrives at its destination. Thank you for standing with us and supporting this work.
