Supporting Girls to Stay in School

By Julia Matthew | Managing Director

Dear Donor,

Thanks to your generous support, our 15 slum learning centres in Goa continue to provide education, nutrition, and a safe environment for children from vulnerable communities. Your partnership ensures that poverty and hunger do not prevent children from learning, growing, and building brighter futures.

We are pleased to report that all slum schools are operating successfully and currently serve more than 200 children with 70% of girls. On June 8, 2026, we welcomed students back for the new academic year, along with many newly enrolled children eager to begin their educational journey. Our slum schools provide an essential bridge for children who have dropped out of school or have never been enrolled in formal education. Through dedicated teachers and structured learning, students strengthen their academic skills, develop positive social behaviour, and gain the confidence needed to transition into mainstream education.

Beyond academics, the centres offer a safe and supportive space where children can learn with dignity. Many of our children live in overcrowded homes with limited electricity and no quiet place to study. At our slum schools, they have access to well-lit classrooms, caring teachers, and an environment where they can complete homework, ask questions, and focus on their education.

Early marriage continues to threaten the education and future opportunities of many girls in underserved communities. Remaining in school is one of the strongest protective factors against child marriage, giving girls greater opportunities to pursue higher education, meaningful employment, and independent futures. Our project addresses this challenge by combining education sponsorship, mentoring, leadership development, and community awareness. We work closely with families and local leaders to promote the value of girls' education and encourage long-term social change.

With your support, more girls are staying in school, building confidence, and gaining the skills they need to make informed choices about their futures. As we begin this new academic year, we remain committed to ensuring that every child has access to quality education and a safe place to learn. Continued support is essential to sustain the operation of our 15 learning centers and expand opportunities for children who are still waiting for a chance to attend school.

Every contribution helps provide educational resources, dedicated teachers, safe learning spaces, and hope for girls who need it most. Thank you for standing with us and believing in the potential of every child. Your generosity is helping transform lives by making education accessible, protecting vulnerable girls, and creating opportunities for children across Goa to build brighter futures.

Thank you

With Gratitude!
