A PROMISING AND BRIGHTER FUTURE
Iris is twelve years old. Her mother is in prison for attempted murder and her father is an alcoholic and who abandoned her and her nine-year-old sister. They have lived a very difficult childhood, full of domestic violence and poverty. They never had money because the father was drunk every day; for this reason the mother, in an attempt to improve their economy in a faster way, was about to murder a person while she was assaulting him, which is why she is currently in prison.
The girls stood alone and the only one who cared for them was their maternal grandfather, who is 58 years old; he works in car washing in the streets, he had no academic preparation that would allow him to find a better job opportunity. After everything happened the girls remained for a year without studying and the grandfather was worried for their education, one day he decided to visit Asociación Nuestros Ahiajados and asked for help.
His economic conditions were not good and he did not have the resources to help the girls and he was asking for support and hoping to find a positive answer. In that moment Asociación Nuestros Ahijados immediately provided medical and psychological help to the whole family; they received food and the most important thing they received the opportunity to study at our school and give them the tools for a personal growth.
Currently, Iris is studying in the 2nd. Stage at the Scheel Center and her sister is in Second Grade. Since the day her grandfather asked for help, the girls have been receiving the necessary support to continue their way of formation. Iris, for being the oldest, is constantly receiving physiological therapies, since because of all the bad situation and problems she lived in the past; she started to act improper and do things that could conduct her into a bad life.
Iris has a good and promising future thanks to all the academic training she had received at the Scheel Center and can overcome all the problems she had went through in her life. With formation she will break the chains of poverty and violence that her family has faced generation by generation.
