Every year in September we have a bunch of new faces at the Dreamer Center, as students in their final years of high school come to do their prácticas, or work experience. Students from different schools in and around Antigua come to the Dreamer Center to gain experience in a work environment, and to put their learning and skills into practice.
One such student who has started their work experience is Scarllet. Scarllet is a former student of the Dreamer Center and has been a part of the Scholarship and Sponsorship Programme since 2016 when she was in 1st grade at 7 years old. Now 17, Scarllet is coming up to the end of her final year of high school, studying to be a legal office secretary.
Scarllet is currently working in our reception area. Her tasks include organising dental and psychology appointments, creating receipts, archiving documents and being the face of ANA when people walk through the gates. She is really enjoying her time here and feels she is learning a lot.
Scarllet has fond memories of her time at the Dreamer Center school. She especially enjoyed learning from Profe José who made learning fun and encouraged her and her classmates to take part in extracurricular activities like dance. Scarllet still has a love for learning and enjoys reading romance novels in her spare time. She is also a prolific pageant winner and currently holds four titles including Miss San Felipe, Miss Sports and Miss ITD (the name of her school).
Scarllet is very happy to be nearing the end of high school and graduating. She is grateful to ANA for supporting her education and for her Godparents Eric Dunn and Don and Ursula Miller who have been with her all the way. Don Miller has even expressed an interest in the possibility of attending Scarllet’s graduation in November.
This isn’t the end of Scarllet’s education journey, however. She wants to continue next year at university and to study law. Her ultimate dream is to become a lawyer and to work for the municipality of Antigua supporting families. With support from ANA, anything is possible!
