It's not everyday that rising sixth graders in Washington DC's Ward 8 travel abroad. It's not everyday that youth go from SE DC to Dar Es Salaam, Zanzibar, Arusha, and Kilamanjaro! And it's not everyday that children in one of the poorest sections of the city meet the Maasai people, safari just south of the Serengeti, and visit schools and orphanages to learn that there are not many differences that seperate them from youth on the other side of the planet.
You have made this extraordinary journey possible. Thanks to you, our students will experience an opportunity of a lifetime. I hope that you understand the magnitude of your deed and realize the blessing that you have helped to create in a child's life. This blessing will not stop with the child. No. It will transfer to their families, their communities, and eventually the world.
Please join us on Friday, June 14th from 6:30pm-9pm. We are being hosted by the world famous musician Maceo Kemp, in a benefit concert/ send off party to help raise the remaining funds for the project. The concert will take place at the Fellowship Baptist Church on 5605 Colarado Ave NW. If you are not able to attend but would like to contribute again, please do so on the GlobalGiving platform. We hope to see you there.
