Learning coding and robotics skills stimulates creativity and builds confidence, especially for girls; and it unlocks the best careers in their lives, with the potential to lift up an entire generation out of poverty. Coding is empowering and gives girls an equal shot. It increases their odds of having well-paid STEM jobs.
Girls and women are underrepresented in technology jobs in Ethiopia. Men vastly outnumber women majoring in technology and engineering fields in colleges in Ethiopia. As a result, the gender gaps are particularly high in these fast growing and highest paid jobs. Girls have fewer role models to inspire them peers.
Giving girls equal opportunities to pursue and thrive in the fields of computer science and engineering is a well designed solutions. Teaching girls the skills of coding and programming while they are in the primary and secondary schools will give them a head start to succeed in college and later when they join the workforce.
The project will educate 500 girls allowing them to transform their lives and rise out of poverty.
