This project will support the education of 50 children hawkers in Anambra State for 1 year. It is said that children of today are the leaders of tomorrow and as such, we must bring them up properly with the right skills, attitude and mindset to prepare them for future challenges, as they deserve quality life anchored on sound education and quality healthcare. Most of these children hawkers are from poor families, living with a guardian or orphans.
Nigeria has the highest number of out-of-school children in Sub-Saharan Africa. Child hawking is a prevalent practice in Nigeria with major highways and streets flooded with children running after cars, which exposes them to emotional health problems, sexual molestation with it's sexually transmitted diseases, kidnapping, trafficking, malnutrition, injuries, body pains and even death.
We will register 50 children hawkers in schools in Anambra State and support their education for a period of 1 year, in order to give them a strong foundation to becoming the leaders of tomorrow.
These children will learn the basic skills they need to succeed in life and this will also help in reducing the number of out-of-school children in Nigeria.
