Closing the Chapter on Oslo 2025
Following our historic participation in the Homeless World Cup in Oslo, Norway, we are thrilled to provide a final update on this specific campaign. As previously shared, our very first all-female squad represented Zimbabwe with immense pride and spirit.
Since returning home, the impact of the tournament has extended far beyond the pitch. The eight players have successfully reunited with their families and communities, carrying with them a renewed sense of purpose and self-worth.
Transitioning to Long-Term Growth
The conclusion of the tournament was just the beginning of the "second half" of our mission. Over the last few months, we have focused on the holistic development of our athletes:
• Psychosocial Support: Ongoing counseling sessions to help players navigate the transition home and process their international experience.
• Vocational Training: Three of our players have already enrolled in local tailoring and catering courses, utilizing the discipline they learned through football to build sustainable careers. One player has gained employment.
• Life Skills: As part of our broader programming, we continue to host workshops focused on financial literacy and health, ensuring these young women are equipped for the future.
Looking Ahead: The Road to Mexico City
As we officially close this campaign, we are not slowing down. This report marks the end of our Oslo-specific fundraising, but the momentum is shifting toward our next major goal, the Homeless World Cup tournament in Mexico City. We aim to take the lessons learned in Norway to ensure our next delegation is even better prepared to compete on the world stage.
Heartfelt Thanks to Our Donors
This journey would have been impossible without the GlobalGiving community. Your contributions provided a platform for eight women to redefine their identities and escape the cycle of homelessness.
