Greetings, Donors and Well Wishers!!

We are delighted to present yet another fantastic progress report from our Seeing is Believing Project. The key project accomplishments are listed below.
From May 1st, 2222 to July 31st, 2022, 3176 patients underwent surgery at Navalbhai and Hiraba eye hospital, a unit of Blind People Association, Bareja.

During the reporting period (1st May 222 to 31st July 2022), 124 outreach eye check camps were organised in remote locations of Gujarat, where 14576 patients were treated at their homes, with 1643 patients identified as cataracts patients and free cataract surgeries services provided to 987 patients.

The Vatrak Hospital, Modasa Annpurana Trust, Bhiloda, Unava, Nakhatrana, Thasara, Mahemadabad, Dholka, Bavaria, and Matar Vision Center is open on a routine basis and has treated 4567 patients with various eye problems.

We are happy to share the impactful story of Mr Arjunsinh.

Mr Arjun  68 years old, from Rajasthan, came to Cornea OPD at the Blind People's Association-managed Porecha Eye Hospital with a complaint of no vision in his right eye. His right eye vision was PL+ PR accurate in all quadrants. The left eye was 6/18. During the examination, it was discovered that the right eye had adherent leucoma and the left eye had an immature cataract. On detailed history, the patient confirmed that he had cataract surgery in his right eye 5 years ago in another hospital and that he had a history of trauma in the same eye that resulted in vision loss.

The patient was unaware of procedures such as cornea transplantation, which could help him regain his vision. After a thorough examination, counselling, and consideration of various treatment options, the patient was ready for Right Eye Optical Penetrating Keratoplasty. The surgery was successful, and the patient is very pleased with the outcome, as he is no longer reliant on others for his day-to-day activities.

Now, the hospital has planned to set up a new eye hospital at Bayad in Aravali district, Gujarat. This district adjoins the border of Rajasthan and Madhyapradesh. The upcoming multispecialty eye hospital will provide the best quality eye care treatment to poor tribal people without any charges. The construction work of the new hospital has already begun and expecting that the hospital will start functioning from April 2023.

We request you to visit the Blind People's Association, Porecha Eye Hospital at Bareja whenever you will be in India. We request you kindly share this project's activities among your friends, and family members, and motivate them to be part of this project.

Looking forward to your sustained support.
