A place to call home

By Alison Crosbie | CEO

At SAI-CAMH (formerly The Mudita Foundation), we’ve always believed in doing extraordinary work with ordinary means. We’ve built a reputation for turning dust into magic. We think differently. We move nimbly. We serve generously. But the truth is: not having a permanent home has weighed heavily on us. We feel displaced, and at times, disconnected — not from our mission, but from the anchor that holds it all together.

A stable base isn’t just about bricks and mortar. It’s about creating a safe, welcoming space where our staff can plan and grow. It’s a place where volunteers can feel part of something lasting. It’s where community members can drop in, be heard, and be helped. It’s a space to do admin, train new facilitators, and nurture our growing team. It’s the starting point for every outreach we dream of — and every connection we build.

Despite this enormous challenge, we have never stopped showing up. In fact, we’ve expanded our services in 2025 — reaching more children, more educators, and more families — all without any additional funding. That’s the spirit that defines us. No permanent address. No problem. Our communities still know where to find us — in classrooms, in hearts, and in moments of real, human connection.

Behind the scenes, though, the strain is real. Staff members often work from unstable internet connections, juggle shared workspaces, and make do with less-than-ideal environments. We are bursting with ideas but sometimes constrained by the limitations of not having a base to gather, build, and launch from.

That hasn’t stopped us from seeking solutions. We’ve proactively reached out to local government, seeking temporary partnerships to house our team. We’ve started conversations with potential donors and landlords, exploring every avenue that could bring us closer to that permanent home. These paths are not always easy or quick — but we are following them with persistence and courage.

We know a home will not make our work magical — but it will multiply our impact. It will amplify the energy we already bring every day. And it will allow us to breathe a little easier, knowing we have a solid foundation to stand on.

To everyone who has walked this journey with us: thank you. Your support, your encouragement, and your belief in our mission keep us going. The dream of a forever home is still alive — and every donation, every connection, every kind word brings it one step closer to reality.

Together, we’re building more than a building.

We’re building belonging.

With hope and determination,
The SAI-CAMH Team
