Dear friends and supporters of Koampia Phum Yoeung (Our Caring Village in English, or KPY),
Welcome to our first quarterly update through GlobalGiving! We are excited to share how KPY is improving the lives of vulnerable children and families in Cambodia. We train and consult on financial management, and help villages and families protect their children so they can thrive and achieve their goals.
Our vision is big: strong, resilient, financially stable families and communities in Cambodia’s most vulnerable communities. This project builds local capacity and resilience. It gives children and families the tools they need to shape their own futures. It helps them flourish in daily life and relationships.
KPY works in the poorest districts of four provinces. We help vulnerable children and families in these areas create a safe environment for themselves to …
KPY set a goal to serve 4500 children by the end of 2026 in 17 primary schools and 8 secondary schools. So far, we have reached 4,481 children – almost reaching our goal for this year! In the first eight months of this year, we have trained 89 teachers (48 women) of our target of 181 (72 women) for the year. And we have mobilized 7 youth groups with a total of 141 (41 girls) students actively participating.
This transformation happens when schools and communities surround children with care and support. That support turns children into confident dreamers for their own futures.
Bahum is one such child. KPY helped his teacher catch a vision for her students. With KPY’s training, she gave him and his fellow students the basic tools to learn, grow in confidence, and save money. And that’s exactly what happened – Bahum grew in confidence! He went from near the bottom of his Grade 6 class to 9th place.
Read Bahum’s full story in the attached PDF.
Please consider supporting KPY to help more students like Bahum find their voice.
