By Kathy Stelford | Founder / Executive Director
Since we first started thinking about how to solve this problem three years ago, we have initiated a variety of programs to generate revenue. GlobalGiving December drive was our first effort that raised just over $10,000. Two family foundations and three corporate foundations have supplied us with just over $100,000 toward our goal. A donor bequest will add to our total. And we have applied for a multi-tyear $100K grant from our local community foundation. This project will begin in the summer of 2025 and we hope to be finished by April of 2026. Sponsorships of equipment and rooms are available. While we are still short of our overall goal, we are hoping that another end-of-year push will get us to the point that we can absorb any additional expenses on our own.
It is becoming more and more important to see this project to completion since our regional resources are dwindling by the day. It may be important for you to know that as founder and executive director for 41 years, I have never received a salary for my work. It comes from the heart. Whatever I ask for, I ask for in the name of our wild animals that deserve their second chance to be wild.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
