-the second chance education program seeks to rescue girls subjected to Female Genital Mutilation and early marriages, and send them back to school. -every year hundreds of girls aged 9-17 years in the Masai community are mutilated and married off. -our program targets to rescue 50 girls every year and give them a chance to go back to school. -our goal is to empower this girls through access to education. and our objective is to promote girl child education in the Masai community.
Girl child education is not viewed as a priority among the Masai community. the practice of FGM and early marriages denies girls a chance to complete their education. girls who are lucky to get an education are married off if they get pregnant and drop out of school. these challenges leads to a high level of illiteracy among women as girls as young as 9 years are married off.
Our organization runs an initiative dubbed keep girls in school, this program prevents parents from mutilating girls and marrying them off the second chance education program rescues girls from FGM and early marriages and sends them back to school through provision of scholarships.
The projects aims to promote girl child education ,increase the number educated and empower women. by educating 50 girls every year for 5 years. we also aim to eradicate the harmful cultural practices such as FGM and Early Marriages.
