Cervical cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths among women in Tanzania but it is preventable. This project will provide free screening and early treatment to 10,000 women through mobile clinics and trained health workers. By raising awareness, offering on-site care, and connecting women to lifesaving treatment, we aim to reduce preventable deaths and empower communities to fight cervical cancer.
Cervical cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths among women in Tanzania, yet it is entirely preventable. Every year, over 10,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer in Tanzania, and more than 6,000 die from the disease. It is the most frequent cancer among women in the country. Globally, women living with HIV have a significantly higher risk of developing cervical cancer compared to women without HIV.
This project will provide free cervical cancer screening, early treatment, referrals and education to 50,000 women in Tanzania through mobile clinics, and trained community health workers. By bringing services directly to underserved areas, we will detect cases early, treat preventable conditions, and raise awareness reducing deaths and empowering women to take control of their health.
This project will create lasting change by screening and educating 50,000 women, reducing cervical cancer deaths through early detection and treatment. Trained community health workers will continue to serve their communities, strengthening local health systems. Increased awareness will empower women to seek care, support one another, and drive long-term demand for screening moving Tanzania closer to eliminating cervical cancer.
