Thanks again to all our very generous supporters!
Thanks to your donations, we are able to continue our cervical cancer screening programme in Nepal. On November 8, 2012 we were able to screen a further 50 women bringing our overall total to 1105 women. The program was organised by the Nepal Network for Cancer Treatment and Research (NNCTR). The screening camp was held on 8th November 2012 in Banepa at ICD Nepal and was very fruitful in providing an important service to the community. Almost 50 patients benefited from cervical screening at this camp. Results from the screening camp found that 23 women screened had a cervical infection, these women were provided with free medication to treat the infection. 1 woman tested positive for pre-cervical cancerous lesions and 3 women were found to have a prolapsed uterus and were referred to the hospital for further treatment. All other women had a normal result and no pre-cervical cancer abnormalities were found.
Gratitude was expressed by one of our beneficiaries, Ms Niru Thapa, aged 29:
'The camp helped protect women from cervical cancer. For that reason it was a blessing for these women and I wish to have such kind of camps in the future.'
