This project will provide 3 science laboratories to 200 students in the rural areas to aid their study, understanding and application of science for development. The deplorable state of laboratories in Nigerian rural schools has limited the abilities of thousands of students to be innovative and led to slow growth in the field of science & technology. Our project aims at correcting this trend by providing facilities that will stimulate innovation in these students making them agents of change.
In Etche, and Nigeria at large there is a severe lack of practical approach to science learning mostly due to the absence of infrastructure. 80% of primary and secondary schools do not have laboratories to apply the theories thought. This leads to poor understanding of science and rare application of it. Out of several thousands of science students, only a few in private schools have physically seen the practical application of science theories leading to low level of inventions/discoveries.
The project will provide a place where practical approach to science learning can be accessed for the schools in our target community. We will re-emphasise the application of scientific and practical approach to science learning. We will improve the learning and understanding of the science subjects of our target beneficiaries - who are primary and secondary school children in Etche. We will invest in stimulating interests in scientific learnings among school children in Etche.
By providing these facilities and stimulating interests in scientific learnings in these students, it will facilitate many scientific inventions and discoveries among them and hence bring about growth and development within the rural communities in particular and achievement of the transformation initiatives of the nation at large. A minimum of 200 students will be affected per project implementation.
