On February 14th, TGUP completed installation of its 10th Science Lab in a Box ™ (SLaB) in Uganda. SLaB enables developing world high schools to do world class laboratory work in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
The present campaign was begun when the first school, Ssaku Secondary School in Wobulenzi, showed 80% improvement in nationally-normed Science test scores (SAT-equivalent) after 6 months of working with SLaB.
The campaign is installing SLaBs at 50 under-resourced high schools throughout the country. More than 200,000 students will be exposed to their first-ever laboratory work in Science. The goal is to raise the Scientific IQ of the entire country.
Other schools where SLaB has now been installed include: Kakoola Secondary School; Nakaloke Secondary School; McKay Memorial College Preparatory School; Kojja Secondary School; and 5 others.
Baseline scores for each school have been recorded. They will be updated when all schools take the Ugandan National Science Performance Exams in November.
