Hello!
Creating peace with pen and paper ... Our motto is not only meant for less developed regions of the world, but also for Germany and Europe. The current developments in Europe show once again how important it is to stand up for social responsibility and global coexistence; how important it is to think outside the box with children and teenagers in a globally interconnected world. Education is a key against racism and inhumanity.
Haiti
Haiti has been in deep political and social turbulences for several months now, and the situation has become ever more tense. Road blocks, violent protests against president Jovenel Moise who has not responded to the severe corruption allegations as well as a dramatic fuel shortage have made it nearly impossible for families to earn a living or send children to school. Prices for food have increased tremendously due to a nearly 20% inflation rate and, recently, many children and elderly die due to malnourishment and insufficient medical care.
Our local partners St. Luke Foundation and nph Haiti are doing their best to support our communities in Cite Soleil. Please consider giving a small amount as crisis relief. St. Luke Foundation is trying to organize a food drive to distribute essential food rations at our schools for the families in the neighborhood.
Our thoughts are with all the people in Port-au-Prince, and especially with the children at our schools and their families!
School tour in Italy
This week, Giovanna, Alissa and Luca went on tour to visit all schools in Italy which participate in the school competition „Schools for Haiti“. They told the students about Haiti and our two schools there. The exchanges with the children and youth showed us once more how important and gratifying our work is in Europe. To look the together beyond the rims of our „own plate“ into our globally interconnected world.
“I believe, that if I was not doing well, that someone would be there to support me. This is why I want to be there for the children in Haiti. Because I think they would do the same for me.“ You can find all updates regarding the school tour on our website (in IT) as well as on Facebook and Instagram.

Formerly a student ambassador in Haiti, our newest club member Malin is now volunteering our social media channels. Malin says: "Since 2010, Pen Paper Peace has been a matter close to my heart. After the earthquake, I started fundraising with friends and family. In 2013 I had the chance to visit the schools in Port-au-Prince and get to know the children. The laughter, the warmth and the appreciation of the children showed me how important it is to work for education." Dear Malin, we are very glad that you are here!
We are always looking for volunteers! So if you want to get involved for our good cause, feel free to contact us anytime!
All the best, Nora, Lisa, Luca, Milena, Felix, Vivi, Verena, Denise, Peter, Alissa, Giovanna, Malin and Jana at PEN PAPER PEACE e.V.
