Dear Donor,
In the midst of a pandemic and as wildfires continued to ravage California through September 2020, many struggling families still identified assistance with getting their children prepared for school and at-home learning as one of their top needs. In response, Can’d Aid partnered with the Salinas City Elementary School District (SCESD) to gauge how to best assist students within the Salinas community. After learning that 40% of elementary-aged students in Salinas are homeless it was determined that homeless students within SCESD’s Family Resource Center would benefit most greatly from assistance with supplies.
Can’d Aid rapidly sourced, assembled and shipped a large order of supplies requested by the Family Resource Center, and within just two weeks fulfilled each of the requested items below:
By mid-October, the supplies were loaded into backpacks and distributed to homeless children in the Salinas City Elementary School District. According to Homeless Liasion Cheryl Camany, the donation of school supplies will “help ensure success and continuity in [homeless students’] educational process.”
It's because of donations like yours that Can'd Aid is able to support organizations like Family Resource Center and get necessary supplies for homeless students in Salinas, CA.
Thank you,
Sara Hannafin
