This project will start 10 school libraries in poor, rural areas of Mongolia where adequate libraries are scarce, providing access to quality learning materials for thousands of children.
Adequate libraries are scarce in the majority of poor, rural areas around Mongolia. When there are libraries, books from the socialist era written by Marx, Lenin, and Engels make up at least half of their book selection. Schools in these communities often function without any textbooks for their students, or manuals for their teachers. Without well trained teachers and quality learning materials, children in these communities will not be able to reach their true educational potential.
Edurelief provides children in rural Mongolia with better access to quality learning materials, age-appropriate literature and children's books. This program engages children in fun and meaningful ways, promoting a quality education.
The project will start 10 new school libraries in poor, rural areas, reaching 2,000 - 5,000 children, providing access to quality learning materials, promoting interest in reading and learning, and training community members and school staff.
