Help Ensure Every Child Has a Healthy Holiday

By Kemi | CEO

Thank you for supporting Be Enriched's children's holiday clubs. Because of your generosity, children across South London are able to access healthy meals, enriching activities, and safe spaces to learn, play and grow during the school holidays.

As the summer continues, families are facing increasing pressure. Recent reports have warned that Britain could face shortages of some foods as drought and extreme weather affect crops across the country. Farmers have reported reduced harvests, water restrictions, and concerns about the future affordability and availability of fresh produce. The National Farmers' Union has warned that food shortages may become more common as climate-related challenges continue to affect UK agriculture.

For many of the families we work with, this creates an impossible situation.

When schools close for the holidays, parents lose access to free school meals at exactly the time children are home all day. Rising food prices can make it difficult to keep cupboards stocked with healthy options, and any disruption to food supplies risks placing even more pressure on already stretched household budgets.

That is why our holiday clubs are so important.

Every (holi)day, we provide children with healthy meals alongside opportunities to make friends, build confidence, develop new skills and enjoy experiences they might not otherwise have access to. For many children, the meals they receive at our clubs are not only the healthiest meal they eat during the school holidays, but sometimes the only meal.

But our work is about much more than food.

It is about ensuring children arrive back at school ready to learn. It is about giving parents peace of mind during challenging times. It is about creating positive childhood memories and reducing the inequalities that too often hold young people back.

As concerns grow about the resilience of our food system and the cost of healthy food continues to rise, community programmes like ours become even more vital.

Your support can help ensure that no child misses out this year.

A donation today will help us provide nutritious meals, exciting activities, and a welcoming environment for children who need it most. Together, we can make sure that every child has the opportunity to enjoy a healthy, happy and enriching school holiday, no matter their family's circumstances.
