Brixton People's Kitchen has some exciting things coming up this summer for our local community.
At the end of the summer holidays, we are planning to host ten days full of food and fun on the Food Bus in collaboration with our sister organisation Be Enriched.
We plan on having ten days full of workshops that encourage healthy eating, physical activity, creativity and play! Each week will be packed full of cooking lessons, arts, crafts, music, theatre and dance.
BPK will also be providing each child (and their guardians) with a free, yummy, nutritious lunch. As holiday hunger worsens during the cost of living crisis, three million children are at risk of going hungry during the school holidays.
The government has encouraged Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programmes which offer children and young people food and fun in England during school holidays. Where children can have a safe and supportive environment where they can learn, be active and eat well, as well as make new friends locally. We are so excited to be a HAF provider and part of this incredible initiative.
Our holiday clubs will contribute to children and young people having access to some fun and food before school starts again whilst being on a super cool food bus!
While BPK continues to wait for the lease to their community shop and cafe, BPK strives to continue to create safe spaces for the community to come together to learn, grow and play.
