The long wait is over for hundreds of boys and girls in DIr. The new Zarbaig campus opened its doors to students for the first time to welcome them back from Spring break. For the first time, these children have a purpose-built school with single grade classrooms, a library, a playground and a boundary wall to keep them safe. It was a rush to the finish line, with final touches completed in early March.
With the added capacity, Zarbaig will grow its current enrollment to 225, from 176 in 2014-15. The school will be supported by a principal and her team of 10 teachers. Many of these children will be attending school for the very first time, and benefit from DIL's quality programming, which is tailored to the needs of the rural girls and women we serve. A DIL education is activity-based, builds confidence and other 21st century skills. Our interventions are high quality and cost-effective through the integration of technology.
Additionally, DIL invests in the professional development of teachers and principals, who are agents of change in their classrooms and communities. We engage with communities to foster supportive home environments for children to succeed.
DIL thanks you for your support and for empowering these children to succeed in school and beyond!
