Nourishing Children, Strengthening Education
By Jawanghe Joseph | Project Leader
For many children in vulnerable communities across Uganda, going to school without breakfast or lunch can make learning extremely difficult. Hunger affects concentration, participation, energy and, in some cases, a child’s ability to remain in school for the entire day. Through our school feeding initiative, Good Cause Foundation Uganda is working to ensure that vulnerable children have access to nutritious meals while pursuing their education.
The project will establish and strengthen sustainable school feeding programs in vulnerable schools, providing nutritious breakfasts and lunches prepared from locally sourced food. By working with local farmers and food suppliers, the project will not only support children but also contribute to livelihoods within the communities where the schools are located.
Objectives:
- Provide nutritious daily breakfasts and lunches to vulnerable school children.
- Reduce the impact of hunger on children's learning and participation.
- Increase school enrollment, attendance and retention.
- Improve children's health, concentration, energy and academic performance.
- Support local farmers by purchasing food locally.
- Strengthen sustainable, community-supported school feeding systems.
Every meal provided is more than food. It is an opportunity for a child to remain in class, concentrate on a lesson, participate with confidence and continue building a better future. We sincerely thank our GlobalGiving supporters for standing with vulnerable children and invite more donors to join us in ensuring that no child has to learn while hungry.

Healthy Children, Stronger Learning
By Jawanghe Joseph | Project Leader
A child's ability to learn is influenced by their overall well-being. When children lack access to adequate food, hunger can interfere with concentration, energy and classroom participation. Good Cause Foundation Uganda is addressing this challenge by developing sustainable school feeding programs for vulnerable schools across Uganda.
The project will provide nutritious breakfasts and lunches using locally sourced food. This will help address children's nutritional needs while creating opportunities for local farmers to supply food to participating schools.
Objectives:
- Provide nutritious breakfasts and lunches to vulnerable children.
- Improve children's health and nutritional well-being.
- Increase children's energy and concentration during lessons.
- Encourage regular attendance and school retention.
- Support improved classroom participation and academic performance.
- Increase opportunities for local farmers to supply food.
- Develop sustainable feeding systems that schools and communities can maintain.
Our goal is to create an environment where children do not have to choose between hunger and education. By supporting school feeding, donors can help children receive the nourishment they need to participate more fully in their education.
We are grateful to every GlobalGiving donor who believes that education and nutrition should go hand in hand. Your support can help put a nutritious meal on a child's plate and create another opportunity for that child to learn.

From Local Farms to School Meals
By Jawanghe Joseph | Project Leader
Our school feeding initiative is designed to create benefits that extend beyond the school gates. Good Cause Foundation Uganda will work to establish and strengthen sustainable feeding programs that provide nutritious breakfasts and lunches to vulnerable school children while sourcing food from local farmers.
This approach creates a connection between children's education, nutrition and community livelihoods. Children receive nutritious meals, while local farmers gain opportunities to supply food to schools.
Objectives:
- Provide nutritious daily meals to vulnerable learners.
- Improve children's health and nutritional well-being.
- Increase school attendance, enrollment and retention.
- Improve concentration and participation in lessons.
- Support better learning and academic performance.
- Create reliable markets for locally produced food.
- Encourage community participation in sustainable school feeding.
We believe that sustainable change becomes stronger when communities participate in creating solutions. By sourcing food locally, the project can help circulate resources within communities while ensuring that children receive the meals they need.
Every donation can contribute to this cycle of positive change—supporting a child at school while also supporting the local community that helps provide their food.
We invite GlobalGiving donors to partner with us as we build school feeding programs that nourish children and strengthen communities.
