Dear donors:
Things are moving along nicely for our new pool at Philippi Children's Centre and we are still on track for it to open in November, 2015. We made a short video about why we are building the Love to Langa Swimming Academy and it can be viewed on Youtube: Video
In the meantime, we continue to sponsor swimming lessons for four children at another location and we wanted to let you know how two of them are doing.
Teacher Anne, who is working with Lithembe says, "Lithembe is progressing slowly, but surely. He is now kicking steadily with arm movements and managing to blow bubbles with his eyes in the water - so is putting the whole stroke together. He does this independently over a smaller pool noodle.
He can now float on his back to the count of three. We are working on him being able to float on his back for a short period. He happily jumps in from the side and turns to catch the wall. He is all smiles during his lessons! "
Teacher Wendy says of Marian, "she is doing well and has progressed with so much improved water confidence and she likes her lessons so much. She's able to swim short lengths without any aid - from the steps to me using arms and kicking. Marian also can happily dive while sitting on the edge of the pool."
We are excited for the months ahead and look forward to keeping you up to date on our progress.
Enjoy the summer!
warm regards,
Amy
