St. George’s Society of New York recently led a spring career development workshop and networking lunch at Lehman College. These professional development workshops are aimed to support our scholars as they transition from college to the world of work, and in light of the graduation season soon upon us, this came at a useful time for our current scholars.
We were so pleased to have SGSNY members donate their time to lead these sessions, and we hosted an enthusiastic group of 10 current scholars and alumni. Throughout the day, we held three separate sessions that included talks on confidence-building, mental health in the workplace, and interview techniques. These topics all aim to give our students the tools they need to take ownership of their own success.
Our inspiring students appeared to gain a lot from these workshops. The Q&A session gave them the opportunity to learn helpful hints and tips. For us at SGSNY, this is yet another example of how our students go out of their way to interact with ideas and people that will help them progress as they move into the next stage of their careers.
