Earlier this month, St. George’s Society of New York (SGSNY) hosted an event to introduce our scholars and alumni to mentors and supporters of our Scholarship Program. This annual event, at the home of one of our supporters, provides an opportunity for our scholars to practice their networking skills in a welcoming environment.
Also present were administrators from the 5 CUNY schools we serve, SGSNY Board members, members and program supporters, 1786 Circle members.
All 35 of our class of 2023/24 scholars were offered mentors and those that wanted them, were connected with mentees in the fall. The reception provided the opportunity for our mentors and mentees to meet in person for the first time. A few new mentorships were established as scholars networked with other individuals in a position to help guide them in their prospective field. It was a joyous occasion with real impact and purpose.
The next scheduled Scholarship Program event will be on Friday, 28 April at Lehman College. The Career Development Workshop will provide current scholars and alumni with interview coaching and top tips such as resume writing from experts in the field. Access to this advice and guidance helps improve their confidence and the chances of our scholars securing and succeeding at interview, so they can meet their potential.
