SGSNY Welcomes 35 New Scholars for 2022-23

By Jessica Sims | Program Coordinator

St. George’s Society of New York awarded $160,000 to our program to support 35 CUNY scholars for the 2022-23 academic year.

Established in 2008, the Society’s Scholarship Program provides funding to low-income, final-year students of Commonwealth heritage who have achieved excellent academic standing but lack the financial means to complete their education. Since the Program began, SGSNY has served over 450 scholars providing over $1.4 million in financial aid. In addition to financial support, scholars receive mentoring and professional development opportunities from our members, as well as a complimentary 1-year membership to SGSNY.

The 2022 cohort is studying an exciting range of disciplines, including Nursing, Social Work, Paralegal Studies and Mechanical Engineering at Lehman College, Hunter College, College of Staten Island, New York City College of Technology and Queens College.

This year’s scholarships are made possible thanks to contributions from The Manton Foundation, Coller Capital, and a collective of generous individual and corporate donors.
