An at-risk girl in Kenya CAN break out of poverty IF she is armed with the tertiary education qualifications, life-skills and mentorship to step-change her life and that of her family & community. Through this Clinton Global Initiative Commitment, help us help Kenya's most at-risk girls, - girls rescued from FGM and forced early marriage, get the education and skills needed to break out of poverty forever. A teacher or a nurse with these skills can have an exponential impact on the world.
In very poor families in Kenya, girls are given last priority when it comes to education. She may make it through primary school, because primary school is free. If she makes it to high school, she has made it against all odds. But, she still can't get a good job with only a high school diploma in a country with 60% unemployment. She needs more. She needs access to an education and skills that will provide her with the level of employment that will step-change her circumstances forever.
By supporting an at-risk girl's education, you will help harness her talents and transition her out of the circle of poverty and into a circle of social participation, contribution, fulfillment and independence. With your help, each girl will enter a 'Circle of Empowerment' and will receive: intensive life-skill workshops, including financial literary and reproductive health, a university/college education and workforce transitioning guidance that will make her dreams of employment a reality.
Investing in the education and empowerment of at-risk girls is an investment in the future of a nation. An educated and empowered girl will marry later, have fewer children, earn more money, invest in the health and education of her children and help others. It is the poorest girls in the world's poorest communities who offer the greatest promise in reducing extreme poverty.
