Summary

The A2S scholars program has supported 10 students in the United States and about 70 students across universities in Nigeria to pursue their degrees. A unique aspect of this program is the support students receive. Students have access to annual retreats, workforce development workshops, internship opportunities, and mentorship-all to develop students holistically along their educational journeys. A2S scholars achieve a higher level of specialized learning based on their passions, empowering

Challenge

Access to quality education is limited for the youth we serve due to financial circumstances. Without A2S scholarships, our students would not have a clear path forward to further their education. Families we serve live on average on less than $1 per day. In many cases, students will drop out of school before high school in order to help provide for their families. This perpetuates the cycle of poverty as it prevents youth from developing higher level skills to secure good jobs.

Solution

By providing access to university-level education, we give each student the chance to develop higher level skills and secure employment that would allow them to live beyond the means they grew up with. Our hope is that through their educational journey, our scholars are empowered to seek new opportunities and think critically so they can forge their place in the world following graduation.

Long-Term Impact

Access to quality education will allow our scholars to develop the skills and competencies needed to thrive in today's society. When they enter the workforce, they will be better equipped to contribute to their respective careers and create an impact in the community. A2S hopes to empower every student and give them the choice to determine their path for the future so that whatever careers they choose to go into, they will be ambassadors for change.
