SBP is responding to Hurricane Laura along the SW Louisiana and SE Texas coastline. In the face of COVID-19, SBP's team and volunteers will take necessary precautions to safely work in the areas affected. Your support will help impacted families recover more quickly and return to the safety of their homes. For $10 per month, we can provide protective equipment to 12 volunteers. For $25 per month, we can insulate 2 homes. For $50 per month, we can completely reframe a home.
On August 27th, Hurricane Laura made landfall along the Louisiana coast as the strongest storm for the Gulf Coast in more than a century. Category 4 winds with maximum sustained speeds measured at 150 mph, catastrophic storm surge and extensive flooding has already significant damage to thousands of homes across Louisiana and Texas.
Your generous gifts will support SBP's response and recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Laura. Initially, your investment will allow SBP to immediately help disaster-impacted families with: muck/gut/mold remediation; training for impacted residents on new FEMA procedures put in place due to COVID-19, allowing families to quickly navigate this process and advocate for themselves; and advising government leaders on a prompt response.
SBP is an industry leader in disaster resilience, response, and long-term recovery. Our teams are one of the first to arrive and always the last to leave. We remain committed to impacted communities until recovery is completed by supporting: rebuilding homes for low- to moderate-income families; case management and training for local partners; sharing resources (AmeriCorps, funding and best practices) with other NGOs; and advising government leaders on efficient spending of recovery funds.
