It has been a busy start to the year, building on existing connections and establishing new partnerships:
Connecting with partner Child and Youth Care Centres in South Africa
The SAYes Ambassadors and Mentee Liaisons are working tirelessly to ensure that young people on our programmes are continually seen and supported.
They have been focusing on Identity Health, and the Education and Learning domains. Workshops at Girl and Boys' Town; SOS Children's Villages; St Michael's; and Durbanville Children's Home are always well attended with lots of fun and chat. Most importantly though, they provide an outreach for new and existing mentees.
NIKE partnership renewed for 2024
We just launched the 2024 Nike e-Mentorship Programme with special guest Kgothatso Montjane. The SAYes team trained over 60 Nike staff from across Europe and Africa, matching them with young changemakers in Johannesburg and London for 9 months of one-to-one mentorship. We are thrilled to once again be working with Nike and amazing community partners in South Africa and the UK.
The Mayor's New Deal for Young People in London
We are delighted to be partnering with Achieving for Children/Virtual Schools in the London Borough of Richmond and Royal Borough of Kingston. We aim to deliver one-to-one e-mentoring for young people on the Virtual Schools Programme.
Our partnerships in the Greater London Authority also extend to the Boroughs of Lewisham, Southwark, Islington, Edgware and Wandsworth. We're so proud of the work that our new UK Ambassadors are doing in London, to spread the word about mentoring.
SAYes will continue to work towards the Mayor of London's vision to provide a mentor for 100,000 Young Londoners by the end of 2024.
