When Amina arrived at our supported health center on a rainy night in Ibadan, she was in distress. It was her first pregnancy, and complications had already begun. Just months earlier, Amina might have delivered at home without skilled care. But through our Safe Birth Initiative, she had attended antenatal sessions, learned the danger signs, and was enrolled in our emergency transport system.
That night, a trained midwife was ready. Essential supplies were available. Within minutes, Amina received the care she needed. After a tense hour, her baby’s cry filled the room, a sound of life, hope, and possibility. Amina survived. Her child survived.
Her story is one of many. Across communities, we are seeing change. Women who once feared health facilities are now choosing safe delivery. Families are learning, preparing, and acting early. Health centers are better equipped, and frontline workers are more confident and capable.
Behind every number is a mother like Amina, alive to hold her child, to nurture a family, and to contribute to her community.
Your support made this possible. Because of you, lives are being saved, futures are being secured, and hope is being restored. With your continued partnership, we can reach more mothers, prevent more tragedies, and ensure that no woman dies while giving life.
