Uganda and partners have made significant effort to reduce malnutrition. Despite the above effort, malnutrition remains the major burden among children 5-59 months, breast feeding and lactating mothers in Kabuki District. Nationally, 33 percent of children under age five are stunted (have low height-for-age), while 4 percent are acutely malnourished(have low weight-for-height) according to the recent Demographic and Health. This is due to limited knowledge on basic nutrition feeding practices.
The project increases utilization of nutrition basic feeding practices and access to nutrition services among pregnant mothers, lactating mothers and children 5-59 months in Kibuku, Pallisa and Butebo Districts. The project will mobilize and sensitize 70 nutrition community resource persons, conduct home visits to assess malnutrition. train 1070 pregnant mothers and lactating mothers on nutrition basic feeding practices, provide treatment to children and pregnant mothers with acute malnutrition
1. The project will reduce local household expenditure on treatment 2. Will reduce delivery of children with low birth weight 3. Will reduce stanted children 4. will reduce mortality and morbidity of children and pregnant mothers
