Dear Amigos del Arte Colonial,
In the last few months great things have been happening in Anauco, Thanks to You! We were able to hire a General manager and an Education head, plus we are now able to offer more museum visits and complimentary activities. This lead to an increase of circa 300% in our visitors, in the last trimester of 2019; particularly we saw a surge in school visits, a third of them being secondary students. We have continued to offer our bimonthly classical music concerts twice a month, and added a history of architecture course taught by professor Luis Polito this term. Another important development was the hosting of a corporate event in the beautiful areas of Quinta de Anauco after many years; something that we would like to offer more often. Finally, the first stage of the existing project to restore gardens and paths to their former glory got underway; we substituted parts of the stage in the Multipurpose room and several wooden beams in the museum’s kitchen ceiling, plus we managed some pest control in those areas; and a first diagnosis was made on the current conditions of all electrical systems in the Quinta, plus some general upkeep of it.
Rommer C, a 7th grade teacher from a school in Caracas, shared with us his feedback after a recent museum visit with his students: “We are happy and thankful for this beautiful and pleasant experience. It was very enriching from a historical point of view, and from even a life experience point of view, for the students...We are definitely planning more visits to your museum next year. We are deeply grateful to you all! The school and me personally congratulate you and your guides, who are so incredibly valuable! We have had parents comment on the level of passion you show during museum visits. We could tell how important it is for your team to spread your enthusiasm for appreciating this museum and its collections.”
As you can tell, the first steps in the revival of the Museo de Arte Colonial - Quinta de Anauco have been given thanks to your generous donations through GlobalGiving. Your interest in preserving this historical legacy has greatly enabled us in our mission to promote the study of our Venezuelan past, love for our art , and enhance possibilities for recreation in Caracas, which will allow us to continue making a difference in the lives of students like Rommer’s and many others. Our team keeps gaining strength as we continue to assess our infrastructure’s condition and attend to some of the museum’s more urgent need, so that in this new year we can proceed to achieve even more while hopefully continuing to count on your support.
