The Museum of Colonial Art in Caracas is dedicated to the Hispanic period in Venezuela and it has an extensive collection representative of the period. The Quinta de Anauco, location of the museum, was built in 1797. The Museum is led by the Friends of Venezuelan Colonial Art Association (AVAAC, for its acronym in Spanish), founded in 1942, is a non-profit organization of individual members, foundations, and corporations that with their contributions make the conservation of the museum and the realization of cultural events possible.
