Hiroshima Day Special Video Streaming
Passing on Memory: Reflections at the Evolving Maruki Gallery
This year, we will present a special video commemorating the 81st anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Our annual floating lantern ceremony cannot be held due to the ongoing renovation work at the gallery.
The program will feature a conversation between Fumiko Ishioka and Erika Kobayashi, whose work explores how memories of war and the Holocaust are preserved, communicated and passed on to future generations. The video will be filmed by Jun Kawada.

Kaiho: Japanese Women Artists after 1945
We are pleased to announce that the Hiroshima Panels and Reclining Mother and Child by Toshi Maruki will be exhibited in Kaiho: Japanese Women Artists after 1945 at Mudam Luxembourg this autumn.
The exhibition brings together more than 120 works by 39 artists, highlighting the diversity and significance of Japanese women’s artistic practices in the postwar period. The first exhibition in Europe dedicated to Japanese women artists from the postwar era to the early twenty-first century, it celebrates their important contributions to the international art world and explores the connections between modern and contemporary artistic practices.
Following Luxembourg, the exhibition will tour to the Lenbachhaus in Munich (March 20 - September 5, 2027) and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao (October 8, 2027 - March 5, 2028).
