Understanding parrots keeps them in loving homes
The Hidden Crisis
Every year, thousands of parrots are rehomed, surrendered, or abandoned. Not because they are "bad", but because they were never truly understood. They lose the people they trusted. They experience fear, confusion, and heartbreak. This is preventable.
They Are More Than Pets
Parrots are highly intelligent and emotionally complex. Many think and feel like a young child- and bond deeply for life. Yet too often, they are chosen on impulse: for their beauty, their voices, or the idea of an exotic pet. A parrot is not meant to fit into your life- your life must adapt to meet theirs.
The Reality of Parrot Care
Parrots can live 20-80+ years. This is a lifelong commitment. They need:
They may be loud, messy, or even destructive-but these aren't ''bad behaviors." They're forms of communication.
What Are They Trying to Say?
Without education, these signals are misunderstood - and parrots suffer the consequences.
The Cost of Rehoming
Parrots form deep, lasting bonds. When those bonds are broken, they grieve. They can experience long-term emotional trauma. Some never fully recover
Education Changes Everything
When people understand parrots:
Educated homes become forever homes.
Before You Adopt, Ask Yourself:
If you're unsure: Wait. Learn. Prepare.
Education is the first step in saving parrots' lives. Because when people know better, they do better - and parrots stay where they belong:
Safe. Understood. Loved. For Life..
Please think carefully about any desire to have a parrot in your life. The number of requests we get from people wanting to rehome their parrots is overwhelming and heartbreaking. These birds deserve better. Please, if you have a parrot, do everything you can to give your parrot the best life possible. If you’re just thinking about getting a parrot, do your research. Even the smallest of parrots can be challenging pets.
As always, we are extremely grateful for your help and continued support. Thank you!
