Thank you for your generous support of the Petfinder Foundation! Your contribution to our Emergency Medical Fund is helping pets like Lucy.
This adorable couch potato was rescued from a Texas shelter by Rudy's Rescue in Weatherford, TX.
An 8-year-old corgi mix, Lucy had been surrendered to the shelter because her owner, an elderly gentleman, could not afford to care for a large mass on her leg caused by an infected hair follicle. The vet he had taken her to had told him the only thing left to do for her was to amputate.
Rudy's Rescue President Deirdra Maraist tells us: "After rescuing Lucy from the shelter, we were relieved to know that our vet thought that her leg could be saved. The procedure would not be without risk, but he was very confident.
"Lucy’s surgery was a success. Her recovery was a little slow, but she is now back to normal and her leg is 100% healed.
"Lucy is still available on Petfinder and has not been adopted yet." You can meet Lucy here.
