This project helps save the lives of newborn babies in Ukraine who are born with hydrocephalus and spina bifida by providing hospitals with critical neurosurgical supplies. By ensuring doctors have the materials they need for urgent operations, we give infants a real chance to survive and grow despite the ongoing war.
In Ukraine, newborns with hydrocephalus and spina bifida urgently need neurosurgical treatment to survive and avoid lifelong disability. These conditions require timely access to specialized surgical supplies, which are often unavailable in public hospitals due to underfunding and war-related shortages. Each child needs up to $10,000 for critical consumables. Without timely access to these materials, life-saving surgeries are delayed or become impossible.
This project provides Ukrainian hospitals with essential neurosurgical consumables needed to treat newborns with hydrocephalus and spina bifida. We purchase and deliver shunt systems, drainage kits, reservoirs, and surgical tools directly to hospitals, enabling doctors to perform urgent life-saving operations without delay. Timely access to these materials prevents severe disability or death and gives each child a real chance for a healthy future.
By ensuring uninterrupted access to critical neurosurgical supplies, this project allows newborns with hydrocephalus and spina bifida to receive timely treatment and avoid lifelong disability or death. Each year, dozens of children will survive, develop normally, and grow up without severe neurological complications. In the long term, this reduces the burden on families, healthcare systems, and social services while giving children a chance at independent, healthy lives.
