There are approximately 2,500 street connected children in Mwanza struggling to get safe food, homes etc. Street connected children are prone to injury connected diseases from occupational injuries and parasitic related diseases such as schistosomiasis etc. Street connected children face challenges to access healthcare services due to lack of financial and guidance support also they strive to get food than their urgent health needs.
This project will play a great role to accommodate Sick Street connected children to access their health needs 24-7 compared to current outreaches which take place once per week under temporary tent (3 x 3m) which doesn't give enough space for detailed physical examination, consultation, privacy, immediate laboratory testing and medication dispensing also will facilitate patient follow ups and proper records management to be presented to appropriate authorities for further measures.
The facility will enable easier follow up of patients on daily basis and support the long run of the Save Children Medical Outreach Project to ensure all necessary consultation and laboratory test are made on time and 24-7 targeting to increase healthcare access by 50% while decreasing incidence of preventable diseases by 50%
