Project «Save Baikal» that includes wide range of enlighten, research and practical activities finished its field season 2015. From June till September an extensive complex of events in sphere of nature protection was held: works of cleaning up, ennobling and monitoring of the territory was done; polls, discussions and education among population and information gathering was arranged. Ecological tourism, knowledge and skills was actively promoted, experience exchange was carried.
In frames of «Save Baikal» season 2015 organized by ANO (autonomous noncommercial organization) «Ecological and social projects development center» 3 shifts of «Baikal Shore Service» (BSS) camp was held that included 4 working territories general coverage around 140 km square (Irkutsk region and Republic of Buryatia), as well as several accompanying events:
«Baikal Shore Service», Olkhon island, Irkutsk region. Cooperative work with administration of national park «Reserved Pribaikalie» and administration of Khuzir village.
«Baikal Shore Service», specially protected natural territory (SPNT) «Baikal Shore», Bezymyanka - Katkovo, Pribaikal region, Republic of Buryatia, cooperating with state-financed organization «Burnature» (Burpriroda);
«Clean shore of Selenga river», enlighten and ecological clean up event in Ulan-Ude city at embankment of Selenga river;
«Baikal Shore Service», specially protected natural territory (SPNT) «Baikal Shore», Bezymyanka - Katkovo, Pribaikal region, Republic of Buryatia, cooperating with state-financed organization «Burnature» (Burpriroda);
Departure of BSS to Chuvyrkuysky and Barguzin Bays, cooperating with of national park administration « Reserved Podlemorye», Barguzin region, Republic of Buryatia;
3 - 7 of August, participation in preparation and holding of art-festival «Soul of Baikal», Barguzin region, Republic of Buryatia;
Departure of BSS to protected natural territory (SPNT) «Baikal Shore» at Kabansk region, (Enhaluksky reserve and area of Enkhaluk-Sukhaya), Republic of Buryatia, cooperating with state-financed organization «Burnature» (Burpriroda);
5 of August, clean up volunteer event at territory of Enhaluksky reserve in frames X International festival «Future is ours», Kabansk region, Republic of Buryatia;
In general in «Baikal Shore Service» (BSS) camp 2015 more than 150 volunteers took part from Moscow, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Ulyanovsk, Angarsk, Ulan-Ude, Murmansk, Nizhny Novgorod, Gulkevichi, Vladivostok, Kemerovo, Irkutsk, Naro-Fominsk, Mytishchi, Zheleznogorsk, Permi, Krasnogorsk, Budapest (Hungary), Graz (Austria ), Montreal (Canada) and representatives from international community Let's Do It! from France, Finland and Malta. By results of the seasom more than 900 bags of waste were cleaned, part of which were dig up from the ground as part of liquidating of waste "graves". BSS is held annually in summer in Irkutsk region and Republic of Buryatia.
Besides BSS at season 2015, from 20 of August till 5th of September, an expedition to Mongolia was held. Aim of expedition - exchange of nature protection experience, as well as strengthen of international relationships. Expedition was supported by organization OISCA Mongolia (Japan) which activity is promotion and implementation of ecologically clean agriculture techniques. Nine participants from Moscow, Ulan-Ude and India took part. Route of the group started at capital, Ulanbataar and laid through Hovsgol lake, Harhorin town, East Gobi and made up around 6 000 km.
In September Save Baikal team took part in fire fighting activities.
Season 2015 is still in action, it will end by enlightment photo exhibition in Moscow at November.
