According to 2018 global slavery index, 74 out of every 100 Nigerians are vulnerable to human trafficking, and majority of them are women & girls living in rural communities. We have created HumansNot4Trade project to: (a). Train 200 women in 15 communities as advocates & empower them to tackle women trafficking. (b). Sensitize 10000 women, girls, and youth on dangers of human trafficking and migration (c). Support two female survivors of human trafficking with skills and resources.
According to 2018 global slavery index, over 1.3 million Nigerians are victims of human trafficking, 7 out of every 1000 Nigerians are living in modern slavery, and while 74 out of every 100 Nigerians are vulnerable to this monstrous crime. Majority of these people women, girls and children. If something is not done to prevent human trafficking, more people will fall victims, and the rate may increase to 5 millions victims in Nigeria. Women and girls are more vulnerable to human trafficking.
HumansNot4Trade Project focuses on engaging women in the movement to end human trafficking. The project will involve: a. Training of 200 women as advocates and empowering them to support other vulnerable groups. They will be equipped to monitor, observe and report incidences of women trafficking in their communities. They will serve as voice for vulnerable groups. b. Sensitize 10000 women, girls, and children c. Support two survivors of human trafficking and vulnerable groups.
The project will: a. Train 200 women from over 15 communities, empowering them to become advocates and voice for vulnerable groups. b. Reduce the vulnerability of 10000 women and girls to human trafficking c. Educate and engage 10000 women to play strategic roles in combating human trafficking in Nigeria. d. Support survivors of human trafficking.
