Many people in the community we serve in La Comuna, Quito/Ecuador don't have access to food every day. This project's goal is to help the pregnant, the orphans, and elders have 3 meals a day. We will build the communal dining "San Jose Center" and secure food for them.
On January 31, 2022, a mudslide affected our community, and families living in this impoverished area of Quito faced death and material losses. While helping these families recover we found an even more heartbreaking problem. The abandonment of children, the elderly, and disowned pregnant women that don't have access to food every day due to their lack of resources and work opportunities.
Ninos de Maria Foundation would provide a dining area "San Jose Center "to serve 50 people within the community that have been identified as the most vulnerable to receive a meal containing a portion of protein, a carbohydrate, and vegetable sides. The founds would buy the groceries needed to support this group for a year.
"San Jose Center" dining room would leave a positive impact on these families as we build relationships and share our values. We will share information and alternative tools to break the poverty cycle. "San Jose Center" dinning room will also serve as a connection point with other community leaders, neighbors and partnering institutions. The center offers a point of connection and education to anyone within the community.
