ENDING WATER POVERTY

ENDING WATER POVERTY.

Hifadhi Africa Organization has been in the forefront fighting water poverty across Kenya. Thousands of people in the arid and semi-arid regions in Kenya lack access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene. Hifadhi Africa’s sand dams have so far been of great benefit to the residents of East Pokot, where access to water has been a major challenge in the region. East Pokot is one of the arid and semi-arid regions in Kenya, and climate change has always taken tool in the area.

Sand dam construction is a strenuous and physically burdening labor work that involves hundreds of cements, loads of timber, tons of sand and lava rocks, etc,

We have so far received $2875 from the campaign, which we have kick started the project. From the donations we have:

  1. Conducted two community mobilization sessions at Kamarel  village to sensitize the community about the project and also have their inputs in the project
  2. Paid 20 men from the village to collect stones for the sand dam construction. They have collected two tons of stones already.
  3. Labor. We have hired 30 men to start ground breaking of the sand dam tunnel.

We are pleased that from your continuous donations, we will be able to complete the project and you will save lives by providing safe drinking water for the residents of East Pokot, and protected them against contaminant.

However, this is just the very initial preparation of the full project and we still need other materials like cement, sand, water used for construction and timber. We are hopeful that together, we shall see this project come to life. For sand dam construction is a strenuous and physically burdening labor work that involves hundreds of 50KG cement, loads of timber, tons of sand and lava rocks, etc,

Together we can end water poverty in East Pokot.

Thank you.
