From this year onward we are initiating our new project SAMPARC Heritage Education Camp to create awareness about heritage monuments and preservation of heritage monuments. The pivotal motive for introduction of this Camp is imbibe the deep roots of historical monuments such as Lohagad and Visapur fort, Karla, Bhaje and Bedse caves (from Maharashtra,India), also to pursue UNESCO world heritage tag in preservation and protection of these momentous places of India.
There is an urgent need to preserve and promote our heritage monuments. An appreciation of heritage is often learnt in both formal and informal spaces, and nurtured over time. This implies a long term endeavor which requires deliberate and consistent intervention. Due to limited formal spaces to learn about heritage, there is a general lack of understanding and value attached to Heritage. Promoting and preserving our heritage is a collective responsibility that has to be learnt.
SAMPARC Heritage Camp (SHC) aims to develop innovative educational approaches in support of conservation and preservation of heritage monuments by enabling participants to:- Learn more about Heritage monuments Acquire new skills to conserve these sites Life-long commitment to preserving our heritage monuments for present and future generations Involvement in heritage education and conservation activities in SAMPARC center and heritage sites
People learn about Heritage sites, about the history & traditions of their own & the importance of protecting Heritage sites. They become aware of the threats facing the sites & learn how the community as a whole unites to save our common heritage. Most importantly, they discover how they can contribute to heritage conservation & make themselves heard. In the 1st phase of this project we are organizing heritage education camp for 150 students.
