Summary

A milestone campaign moving toward the goal of serving one million nutritious meals to Filipino families. It focuses on malnourished and underserved communities living near landfills, where pollution worsens child health and poverty. Beyond feeding, #SaloSalo promotes clean-air and zero-waste initiatives that address the root causes of poor health-helping families build resilience and creating cleaner, safer communities where every child can grow strong and reach their full potential.

Challenge

Around 2 to 3 in every 10 Filipino children suffer from stunting. A reminder that too many are growing up hungry, weak, and surrounded by unhealthy environments. Child wasting in the Philippines remains a serious issue, often seen in communities near landfills where families are deprived of clean air, putting children at risk of stunting and unfulfilled potential. With the recent threats of typhoons and earthquakes, children and their families are now more vulnerable than ever.

Solution

Through #SaloSalo, we work with communities near landfills, providing daily nutritious meals and supplements to children and families suffering from malnutrition. The "A Million Meals" program aims to nourish 5,000 individuals for 120 days, helping them regain health, rebuild their lives, and move toward self-sufficiency. Alongside this, the clean-air and zero-waste drives will train informal waste collectors, build segregation hubs, and support the rehabilitation of communities near landfills.

Long-Term Impact

"Salo-Salo" is a Tagalog word meaning get-together-a Filipino tradition of sharing food and laughter that embodies bayanihan, the spirit of helping one another. #SaloSalo aims to break the cycle of hunger and poor health by helping families build lasting habits of nutrition and environmental care. With better access to food, clean air, and sustainable livelihoods, communities can move beyond survival toward growth-creating healthier children, stronger families, and resilient communities.
