Sahabat Pulau is a youth-led and nonprofit organization focus on a sustainable action-oriented project involving youth and children to have a better life through an integration project based on education and social business in remote areas.
Educated youth are vital in the formation and continuation of a healthy civil society to hold a government accountable. Without civilly engaged youths, a government can act with more authoritarian power with less checks and balances and expressed demands by civil society and its citizens.
This organization hosts numerous projects such as: providing mentorship through foster brothers and sisters to motivate study for kids who are living in the rural area; creating tools to improve the spirit of volunteerism and encourage youth to involve in voluntary service coming from various background; offering a public Library, managed by the volunteers and local community; delivering Education Social and ArtPreneur (DESA) to empower the community through entrepreneurship.
Youth engagement in Sahabat Pulau programs will improve the level of education through the community development projects in the rural area, raise the number of youth volunteers in Indonesia, motivate youth interests in education or study, lift up the family condition by socio-entrepreneurships, and increase the number of participation from the society to solve problems through civic engagement.
