India is facing a crisis - an overwhelming population of nearly 80 million homeless dogs and cats roaming the streets. These innocent creatures are left to fend for themselves, often falling victim to injuries, abuse, and debilitating illnesses. Imagine the plight of a helpless street dog, limping along the road with a broken leg, searching desperately for food and shelter. Picture the countless litters of kittens born into a life of hardship, their malnourished mothers unable to provide.
India is home to 79.9 million homeless dogs and cats. By increasing sterilizations, we can control their population and reduce their suffering, preventing countless births into a life of misery. Sterilized animals are less likely to engage in territorial and mating fights, making them more adoptable and reducing their impact on communities. Our spay-neuter Program offers an effective solution for a humane society.
We have been sterilizing 50-70 dogs and cats monthly. In 2022,we built a clinic in our expanded shelter and sanctuary. Our veterinary team, comprising 2 vets and 2 vet techs, was trained at World Veterinary Services to perform mass sterilizations. The average cost per sterilization is $50. We aim to sterilize 70 dogs/cats a month and hopefully increase to 200. Your help will directly fund the sterilization of 850 animals per year, covering the costs of staff, transportation, and surgeries.
Fewer animals will suffer from starvation, disease, and injuries, leading to a healthier stray animal population. Less territorial and mating behaviors. This will reduce the number of fights and injuries, making them more acceptable to communities. Decrease in the spread of zoonotic diseases, fewer accidents and injuries. Enhanced adoption rates, reduced costs for municipalities, and a compassionate society. This will inspire others to continue these efforts and promote a more humane society.
