Counseling to the migrant care center of “Salto de Agua, Chiapas”
In this report we want to present a group of 4 fantastic Franciscan sisters, that took part in the church of one county near Palenque in the north of the state of Chiapas and welcomes immigrants/migrants of various ethnic backgrounds regardless of political or religious affiliation. Is a house that host over 100 people that eat, sleep and have health care, regularly for around three days because the train passes every three days. It is divided by two areas, women and men, buy recently they are building a third section for family together or trans people that do not feel comfortable in either area.
Due to a serious threat from a group of migrant dealers. We visited them to document all the human violations in the center, afterwards we develop with them a risk analysis and a risk plan management, Follow by a juridical counseling and an incidence campaign in the local area. As a consequence, the threats had reduced and they feel more secure to continue their labor to protect migrants in one of the most dangerous paths to cross Mexico. We continue to company them and help them in all we can.
This is just one of the good examples to share with you and we hope to continue in contact if you have further interest.
